Witton Castle Lakes report w/e 16th August

Much improved conditions over the week at Witton Castle Lakes gave anglers some good sporting action with some decent catches to talk about. In particular was F.Walton who caught four beautiful 4.5lb brown trout and A.Grabham who landed an impressive, hard fighting 5lb rainbow.

A total of 56 visiting anglers fished the lakes through the week with plenty of anglers taking advantage of the later August opening times. A.Grabham again being the most successful of the anglers, with the catch limit of 15 fish and J.King with 7 fish caught. Whilst T.Carr, F.Walton, A.Ross and D.Riley all caught 3 fish each.

The flies giving the most success for anglers on the lakes were buzzers, hares ears, shuttle cock, blobs and muddlers.

Witton Castle Lakes will be hosting Willington & District Angling Club on Sunday, competing for their annual K.D.Johnson cup for the club angler with the heaviest bag. We will give the outcome of that competition in next weeks report.
