The second day of pre-season stocking sees another delivery of top quality, hard fighting Rainbow Trout arriving at Witton Castle Lakes from our new suppliers, Northern Trout of Pickering.
Fishery Officer, John Atkinson, assisted by our hard working volunteers help to unload and transfer the fish, ranging from 2-4lb, into the lakes in readiness for the new season’s opening day this Saturday – ensuring a good start to the 2014 season.
With final preparations for the 2014 season well under way we would like to notify anglers that we will be CLOSED Friday 28th February in readiness for opening day on Saturday 1st March.
The Witton Castle Lakes ‘Barmy Army’ don’t know what bad weather is. Wednesday 12th Feb saw zero degree temperatures, snow, 70mph winds, rain and six crazy volunteers finishing off the removal of weed from the south lake. Hard work but the end result will be weed free lakes for open day.
For 2014 a catch and release season permit is being introduced for Witton Castle Lakes at a cost of £375 for the season. There will be no restriction on the number of visits per week subject to the standard rules applying. Even based on one visit a week this would make a saving of £200 over the season which we believe offers exceptional value for our regular anglers.
