The cooler and cloudier conditions gave anglers a lot more sporting action this week at Witton Castle Lakes. This, combined with the continued hatches across all the lakes, gave the 65 anglers who paid us a visit a very decent rod average of 4 fish.

Witton Castle Lakes has had a mixed bag of weather over the week with sunshine, torrential rain and temperatures down in the low teens. Then Saturday brought with it sunshine, a rise in temperatures and more anglers – bringing the visiting total for the week to 60.
Witton Castle Lakes has fished well all week, although the colder temperatures and heavy rain over the second half of the week kept visiting numbers lower than expected. 53 visiting anglers fished the lakes catching a total of 225 fish giving a very good rod average of 4.3. The wet weather has kept the fly hatches down except for damsels which have been hatching in big numbers on both lakes.
After a wet start to the week Witton Castle Lakes enjoyed the steady rise in temperatures as the week progressed. The rise in temperatures also saw a rise in the number of visiting anglers topping off at a total of 69. They caught a total of 218 fish giving a 3 fish rod average. Amongst the fish caught was an impressive 7lb rainbow trout caught by B.McKewan and T.Lincoln caught a superb over-wintered 5lb brown trout.
