It’s that time of year and the quiet spell on the waters has continued here at Witton Castle Lakes. We welcomed 62 visiting anglers who returned another very hard fought rod average of 2.1 fish.

Improved conditions through the week saw improved visitor numbers to Witton Castle Lakes trout fishery. We welcomed 62 visiting anglers through the gates, who all found the going (described as) ‘very hard’ and just managed to scrape a rod average of 2.
The marked improvement in weather conditions made for a more bearable week at Witton Castle Lakes, even though anglers still found the going quite tough. We welcomed more through the gates this week, 59 visiting anglers fished the lakes and retuned a rod average of 3.2.
Thunder, lightning, hailstones the size of golf balls and scorching temperatures certainly made for an interesting, tricky week at Witton Castle Lakes and probably kept visiting numbers down. Only 49 anglers paid the lakes a visit this week in these extreme conditions, returning a relatively low but respectable rod average of 3.1.
