Witton Castle Lakes report w/e 9th August
Witton Castle Lakes saw a marked improvement in visitor numbers over the last week, thanks mainly to the change in weather conditions. Although numbers were no doubt also boosted by our first week of later opening.
A total of 71 visiting anglers took advantage of the improved conditions and the later opening times and returned a total catch of 143 fish for the week, giving a healthy rod average of 2.
Although catch rates per angler were in the one’s and two’s, John Ord bucked the trend with a total catch of 5 fish.
The best performing flies over the week were CDC, shuttlecock, black gnat, black spider and olive damsel.
The 9pm opening time proved a draw for female anglers in particular who welcomed the opportunity to fish later into the day. The longer hours for Monday to Friday will continue for the whole of August giving greater flexibility, especially for those anglers wishing put in a decent fishing session after a long day at work.
